Dear Cameron - Month Three

Dear Cameron,

Today you are THREE months old. I don’t know where the time has gone or how you’ve gotten so big already.

This month there were THREE big events in your life.

First, you had your first set of vaccinations. Mommy was not happy about that and was very nervous about taking you to the doctor to get them. I had scheduled your appointment on a day that your daddy was off of work so that he could go too, but he ended up having to go to a class up in Vail. I was bummed to be taking you by myself. We arrived at your appointment and they weighed and measured you. At nine weeks old you were 22.8 inches long, weighted 11 pounds 14 ounces, and your head was 15.5 inches around. You are good at growing and it makes mommy and daddy proud. After they were done checking up on you, there was a knock at the door. Mommy thought it was the nurse checking in, but surprise, it was your daddy! He had been stuck being avalanche control on his way up to work and decided to come to your appointment instead. You got THREE separate vaccines. You got two shots, one in each leg, and an oral vaccine. Daddy held you for the shots because your mommy is a wimp. I cried longer than you did. You were a champ! After your appointment, you slept ALL day long. I was a little worried about you, but you seemed happy in the evening when you finally did wake up.

Second, you traveled on your first airplane. Before mommy started back to work, your daddy and I thought it would be a good idea to take you to visit your grandparents (all THREE sets). You have your Grandma and Grandpa Moore, your Nana and Poppy Rhodas, and Grandma and Grandpa Kitahara. You were a champion flier on the “baby plane,” as some other passengers deemed it. You were one of four babies on your first flight. You were all angels and didn’t make a peep the whole way!

You got to see everyone on your trip to California! Your first night there was rough. We stayed with your Grandma and Grandpa Moore that night. It was THREE days after your vaccines and you had a reaction to the rota virus one. You had such a bad tummy ache. You screamed in pain, had the poops, and threw up. It made mommy cry to see you hurt and feel sick, and there was nothing I could do to help you! That night, I did a “no-no.” I was so worried about you I let you sleep in the bed with me. I laid with my hand on your chest and really didn’t sleep at all. I’m hoping that next time you get vaccines you don’t have a reaction. You were miserable. I was sad.

The next day we went to stay with your Grandma and Grandpa Kitahara in Morgan Hill. You met your Grandma Lone and Auntie Anna for the first time. You also met Skipper and Tyson, their dogs. They sniffed and licked your ears. You didn’t seem to care much. Unfortunately, mommy caught a cold while we were visiting and you didn’t really seem like you felt 100% from your vaccinations. Grandpa took us to go see your Uncle Sean. He held you and was just in awe that he is now your uncle. He thinks you are just SO cute!

A couple days later we went to your Nana and Papa Rhodas’ house. Unfortunately, again, you caught mommy’s cold. What a unhealthy trip we both had! Nana got a humidifier and that seems to help, but you still weren’t yourself. You remained a little fussy throughout the trip and mommy felt bad for you. You were so congested that I bought a battery powered “booger sucker,” but it only scared you. So, we stick to the blue bulb now!

After our trip, we flew home for mommy’s last week home with you. I was so sad about going back to work and being away from you!

The Saturday before mommy returned to work, your Nana came to stay with us! She took care of you and loved on you during mommy’s first week back to work. I can’t even begin to tell you just HOW MUCH I miss you while I’m away from you! All I can think about while I’m at work is how I just want to be home with your sweet lil’ self! Mommy has been at work for six days now, and while our morning routine is getting easier, leaving you during the day is not.

Third, YOU LAUGHED! Oh that’s such a great sound to hear! On 2/6, daddy was giving you a bath and making funny faces and sounds at you. You had attempted to laugh before, only to surprise yourself with the sound that was coming out of your own mouth. That night, you laughed and you laughed good. It made mommy and daddy laugh with you. It was a proud moment for the both of us!

Cameron, you are now ¼ of a year old. This quarter has flown by and before we know it, you will be having your first birthday… You are such a sweet and happy baby. You are always smiley and happy. You rarely scream and cry. If something is bothering you, like if you’re sleepy, you will fuss and whine but never make a huge stink. You’re easy to console and make happy. You bring so much joy to mine and your daddy’s lives. It’s a joy to watch you learn and grow every day! You are a champion nurser and toot blower. You still LOVE your baths. You’ve discovered your hands and chew on them like there’s no tomorrow. You’re interested in your toys and focus on the book daddy and I bought you. You especially like the monkey page! You are learning and changing so much every day.

I love you more than you’ll ever know,
Mama

P.S.) You have been sleeping very well these last few nights. Seven, then eight, then nine hours last night (mommy cheated and gave you a dream feed)! Keep it up, you’re doing great!

Kristen
